
Ramesses II
New Kingdom, 19th Dynasty, 1270 B.C.
Here Ramesses II is portrayed in the idealized persona of an authority figure, not necessarily that of the man. He is wearing the double crown, ceremonial beard and the uraeus snake, another symbol of unification (White 12). On his shoulders is the name "Ra-en-hekau, 'Sun of the foreign rulers'" (Seidel & Schulz 316).
This is a great picture. He looks so regal and powerful!
