Credited to Ramses II, the ninteenth dynasty, also in the New Kingdom, 1250 B.C. these Ram sphinxes line the corridor from the Nile to the Great Hypostyle Hall.
This type of sphinx is called a Cryos sphinx, combining the body of a lion and the head of a ram. The lion, a symbol of the kings power was also associated with Re (Hamilton 29) and the ram was a sacred animal of Amun (Seidel & Schulz 334, White).
