This is an exciting weekend in my pottery world!
Most recently I've been burning the midnight oil in order to get a few things ready for our annual May Sale at Lexington Arts & Crafts Society. It opened yesterday and let me tell you, there are a lot of extremely talented potters in my Ceramics Guild!

It's worth a visit even if you don't want to buy anything, just for the chance to see the range of style. Of course you might also end up wanting to bring a piece or two home...I'm currently craving a delicious jade green mixing bowl. It's so beautiful and sturdy I can't help but picture myself making dozens upon dozens of Christmas cookies for some future clutch of grandchildren....guess I've got a good decade before the bowl is actually needed, but it's oh so pretty!

Another potter has made a series of citrus juicers and I've got my eye on a nice deep brown (oilspot maybe?) one. Despite the above statement I have been trying to eat more healthfully, which usually requires making more things from scratch...every time a recipe calls for "juice of one lemon" I wish I had one of these. Being pottery rather than mass produced plastic or something you get to have substance & beauty while juicing your lemons!

And finally, one of our newest members has made a small platter with simple cream white glaze, she has painstakenly painted a delicate maroon paisley design along portions of the edge. Absolutely beautiful!

For the May Sale I've got a few planters with spring blooms, a few of my usual and totally unique mugs, and couple hand carved lanterns. I love making the lanterns, but they are crazy time consuming...still...sometimes you just get the urge to make a lantern, so that's what I do - make a lantern!

In addition tot his I've submitted a few pieces in the "Backdoor Gallery" which is located on the ground level of Lexington Arts & Crafts Society, open during regular business hours.

Last but not least a few pieces of mine have been hung or displayed in the Center for Hope and Healing exhibit at the Ayre Gallery in Lowell. The picture is from their card...you might recognize the pottery style on this photo!

Well, I'm off to the sale now. It's the last day, we're open from 10-5pm and located at 130 Waltham St., Lexington.
